Wood carbonization is a process that improves the performance of wood through high-temperature treatment, and intermittent carbonization equipment is widely used due to its flexibility. When using such equipment, special attention should be paid to the following points:
1. Raw material pretreatment. The moisture content and size of wood directly affect the carbonization efficiency. Before carbonization, it is necessary to ensure that the wood is dried evenly and the moisture content is controlled between 8%-12% to avoid cracking caused by excessive evaporation of water at high temperature. At the same time, the wood cutting needs to be uniform in specifications to ensure uniform heating and prevent local insufficient or excessive carbonization.
2. Temperature gradient control. The core of the intermittent carbonization machine is to increase the temperature in stages. In the initial stage, the volatile substances in the wood should be gradually driven out by slow heating (such as 20-30℃ per hour); the medium-term stable temperature range (180-220℃) promotes the carbonization reaction; in the later stage, the cooling speed needs to be accurately controlled to avoid deformation of the wood due to excessive temperature difference.
3. Oxygen isolation management. The carbonization process needs to be carried out in a low-oxygen or oxygen-free environment to reduce the risk of wood combustion. The sealing of the equipment must be strictly checked, and the environment must be kept stable by nitrogen or inert gas injection. Monitor the oxygen concentration regularly to ensure that it is always below the safety threshold (usually <5%).
4. Process monitoring and recording. It is recommended to use an automated temperature control system to track the carbonization state in real time and record key data (such as temperature, time, gas concentration). Optimize process parameters through data analysis to improve batch consistency.
Scientific pretreatment, precise temperature management, strict oxygen isolation and data monitoring are the key to ensuring the efficient operation of intermittent carbonization machines and wood quality.
