Coconut shell activated carbon is a very practical adsorbent and catalyst carrier. Its production method and process flow mainly include the following steps:
Raw material selection and pretreatment
1. Material selection: Select high-quality coconut shell as raw material, which is the basis for producing high-quality coconut shell activated carbon. There are two main sources of coconut shells on the market: Hainan coconut shells and Indonesian coconut shells. Indonesian coconut shells are more suitable for producing high-quality activated carbon due to their high density and high hardness.
2. Drying: The collected fresh coconut shells are thoroughly dried to reduce the moisture content and improve the efficiency of subsequent processing.
3. Cleaning: Ensure that there are no impurities and attachments on the surface of the coconut shell, which is a key step to ensure the quality of activated carbon.
4. Crushing: Crushing the dry and clean coconut shells into small particles for better carbonization. This step is usually completed by professional crushing equipment.
Put the pretreated coconut shells into a carbonization furnace and carbonize them under high temperature and oxygen-deficient conditions. The carbonization temperature is usually between 500℃ and 900℃ (some say 500℃ to 800℃), and the carbonization time is determined by the furnace shape and the properties of the coconut shell. During the carbonization process, organic matter decomposes at high temperatures to produce preliminary charcoal.
